About HKI

Hogan Karate International (HKI) exists to preserve, develop, and share the martial teachings of Soke Jack Hogan,
and to support the continued leadership of Nidai Soke David Hogan. HKI serves as a unifying body for schools and
instructors around the world who share respect for the Hogan Karate lineage and its principles of discipline,
integrity, family, and practical martial application.

HKI is built upon three foundational pillars:
Heritage
The teachings, values, and spirit of Soke Jack Hogan remain the foundation of all HKI activity.
Leadership
The authority of Nidai Soke David Hogan ensures authenticity, continuity, and responsible stewardship of the art.
Community
HKI is more than just a blackbelt organization, it is a family of independent martial artists and dojos who support one another while working together to preserve and grow the art for future generations. HKI’s purpose extends beyond the development of physical skill. It exists to cultivate character, leadership, humility, and lifelong learning in all its members.

With the formal recognition of Hogan Ryū Kempo in 2025, HKI entered a new era of clarity and purpose. Under the leadership of Nidai Soke David Hogan, the organization is committed to the following principles:

Continuity
Preserving the spirit, methods, and principles taught by Soke Jack Hogan, ensuring that students today receive the same depth, honesty, and martial realism that defined his instruction.
Modernization
Refining policies, rank structures, instructor expectations, and documentation to reflect modern professional standards while honoring tradition.
Technical Excellence
Centering HKI on the applied principles of Hogan Ryū—kyusho integration, self-defense realism, flow, kata analysis, and functional technique.
Global Community
Encouraging cooperation among member schools worldwide through cross-training, shared seminars, networking, and mutual support.
Integrity and Character
Maintaining high ethical standards at every level of membership, reaffirming that rank is earned through responsibility and service—not entitlement.

What HKI Stands For Today
While HKI continues to grow, its core identity remains unchanged:
• Loyalty to lineage and respect for those who paved the way
• Unity across diverse schools, methods, and martial cultures
• Practical self-defense rooted in realism, anatomy, and experience
• High personal and professional standards for instructors and students
• A family mindset in which every member contributes to the legacy

HKI is more than a martial arts organization. It is a living tradition held together by shared values, shared history, and shared commitment to excellence.
